Abstract
PURPOSE: To make uniform the thickness of liquid crystal layer and obtain display free from color unevenness, by using a transparent substrate with a transparent electrode as the front electrode substrate, and constituting the back electrode substrate by gluing a film coated with a transparent electrode and a back substrate with the aid of light diffused reflection type adhesive.
CONSTITUTION: A transparent electrode 9a is coated on a transparent substrate 8 made of glass or similar material. The back electrode substrate is constituted by adhering a transparent conductive film 13 coated with a transparent electrode 3b to a back substrate 15 with the aid of a resin adhesive 14 of diffused reflection type containing powder of MgO or the like. Films for vertical orientation 10a, 10b of liquid crystal 16 are formed on the surface of the substrates 8, 15 contacting with the liquid crystal 16. The two substrates 8, 15 are kept at a specified interval by means of spacers 11a, 11b, and are sealed with sealing agents 12a, 12b. In order to make uniform the thickness of the liquid crystal layer, the film 13 (18) on the back substrate 15 is contacted with the front substrate 8 (17), and the adhesive layer 14 is hardened. As a result, the flatness of the substrate 8 is achieved. Thus, the substrates 8, 15 may be made flat, without requiring precise grinding or the like, guite easily. In addition, color unevenness may be eliminated.
