Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a liquid crystal optical device, which is chemically stable, while facilitating assembly of a liquid crystal panel, by using a laminated plate of a high molecular resin as a transparent substrate.
CONSTITUTION: A film of cellulose triacetate or tetron is laminated upon a film of polyester or acrylic resin having a smaller thickness than about 100 microns, and the resultant laminated plate as a transparent substrate. Cellulose triacetate 2 is laminated by the use of an urethane adhesive upon a polyester film 1 which has a smaller thickness than about 100 microns and which is equipped with transparent electrode films 5 and 5 made of In2O3, SnO2 or the like thereby to prepare a transparent substrate. A liquid crystal 6 is filled in the space between the transparent substrates, and polarizing plates 3 are arranged at the both sides thereby to produce a liquid crystal device.
