Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate both the hooking of a background plate and the extraction of an electrode lead wire, by providing a through-hole to a rear side substrate made of a recessed ceramic substrate which is formed with a level difference. CONSTITUTION:A rear side substrate of an ECD element is formed by sealing a transparent upper-side substrate 3 containing a transparent electrode 2 having an EC material 1 and a rear side substrate 8 containing a pouring port 4, through- holes 5 and 15 plus an electrode 7 having a counter electrode material 6. A peripheral sealing mater 9 is used for the above-mentioned sealing. A background plate 11 is hooked at the level difference parts 10A and 10B of the rear side substrate. The electrolyte 12 is injected into the substrate, and the pouring port is sealed with a sealing agent 13. The electrode 2 of the substrate 3 is led out to the outer surface of the rear side substrate by a sealed transfer 14 and via the hole 15 of the substrate 8. The hole 5 is used for taking-out of the elctrode of the rear side substrate. The reliability of the lead part as well as the sealing sealing performance are enhanced since no lead wire crosses the saeled part.
