These parts 41, 42... are cut at a dividing part (a), and the upper and lower substrata 1 and 2 having a circuit part 5 are joned with a seal material 3 to form a liquid crystal cell. In such method, a groove 8 (having a preferable thickness of about <=1/3 glass thickness) is formed at the boundary part of the upper glass substrate parts to prevent the material 33 from going into the circuit part 51.
