Abstract

PURPOSE:To thoroughly prevent the production of bubbles even in a large-sized liq. crystal display element and to maintain the stability of the element in the quality like a small-sized one by boring a plurality of exhaust and injection holes for evacuation and the injection and filling of a liq. crystal in part of a glass substrate or a sealant. CONSTITUTION:A patterned transparent display electrode 4 and an insulating orienting film 5 are formed on one side of an upper glass substrate 1 in order. On the other hand, an opposite electrode 6 and an insulating orienting film 7 are formed on one side of a lower glass substrate 1 in order. A plurality of exhaust and injection holes 8, e.g., 6 holes are bored in the lower substrate 1 along the lateral direction at regular intervals at a place corresponding to a part for filling a liq. crystal. A sealed part by epoxy resin is formed on the lower substrate 1 along the outside of the formed electrode, and the upper substrate 1 is superposed on the lower substrate 1. A liq. crystal is then injected and filled into the gap 3 enclosed by the substrates 1 and the sealant 2 to complete a liq. crystal element. The liq. crystal is injected very smoothly, and the production of bubbles can be prevented thoroughly.
