Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a liquid crystal display device of a low cost, good quality and good visibility by forming liquid crystal filling chambers having desired patterns by a sealant, and sealing liquid crystal materials contg. dichromatic dyes only in said chambers. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes 8-15 corresponding to 7 segments and an insulation film 3a of SiO2 or the like are formed on an insulation substrate 1a. Transparent electrodes 2b and an insulation film 3b are formed as per prescribed shapes on the other substrate 1b. Liquid crystal filling chambers 4a are formed by a sealant 5 such as epoxy adhesive agent mixed with alumina beads, and liquid crystals 4 are filled through an injection port 6, after which the port is sealed. A cyano biphenyl type is used for the liquid crystals 4, 4-2-methyl butyl-4-cyanophenyl for the optical material, and D5 for the dichromatic dyes, and these are used by beging mixed. If voltage is selectively applied to the electrodes 8-15, blue patterns are obtained. Thereby, the liquid crystal display device of a low cost, good quality, and good visibility is obtained.
