Abstract

PURPOSE:To form an image in a high speed, by applying the voltage to a light transmissive electrode and a light shielding electrode of a photoreceptor containing a photoconductive layer having the above-mentioned two electrodes plus an isolated electric conductor containing an insulator on its surface and developing a potential image which is produced by applying the voltage to those two electrodes to carry out the exposure of the image. CONSTITUTION:The voltage Va is applied between a light shielding electrode 7 and a light transmissive electrode 6 of a photoreceptor 1, and the exposure is carried out for an image. Thus a difference is caused between the region where the light transmits through the electrode 6 and the region where no light transmits in terms of the voltage distributed between the electrode 6 and an isolated conductor 4 as well as between the conductor 4 and the electrode 7 respectively. Then a potential image is formed by the changed of potential of the conductor 4 which is caused according to the above-mentioned difference. Under such conditions, a magnet 10 stuck with a conducting magnetic toner 9 is made to touch an insulator 5 of the photoreceptor. As a result, a toner image is formed in correspondence to an exposed image on the isulator 5. This toner is transcribed onto the paper, tec. to obtain a copied image.
