Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a magnetic head excellent in abrasion resistance, by inserting a layer of an oxide of Si, Ti, Cr or W between amorphous magnetic alloy thin bodies. CONSTITUTION:The core for a magnetic head is made with a laminated body of amorphous magnetic substance alloy thin body having a layer of an oxide of either one of Si, Ti, Cr or W on the surface. The oxide layer can be formed by coating an organic metal compound including Si, Ti, Cr or W desolved with a solvent on the surface of an amorphous magnetic substance alloy thin body, drying it at a low temperature (room temperature), evaporating the solvent, and performing heat treatment in air for suitable time at a temperature of about 350 deg.C or higher and below the crystallizing temperature of the amorphous magnetic alloy. The thickness of the oxide layer is preferrably 0.1-2mum.
