Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a magnetic disk which holds a lubricant excellently by forming a magnetic recording body on a substrate made of an Al disk after generating a microcrack on the surface by Alumite-processing and by thermal processing and then by applying a surface lubricant.
CONSTITUTION: After the surface of Al substrate 1 is Alumite-processed, thermal impact (e.g., sudden heating up to about 300°C) is applied to generate microcrack 6 in Alumite layer 4 and one layer 4, ferromagnetic-substance thin film 5 is formed (microcrack 6 is formed in thin film 5 as well along microcrack 6 in layer 4). Next, film 5 is coated with lubricant 7, which stays in microcrack 6 by impregnating to obtain a magnetic disk which maintains a lubricious surface for a long period. Additionally, lubricant 7 may be applied after protective film 3 is formed on ferromagnetic thin film 5.
