CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a base, a chromium layer is formed to a 5- 500Angstrom thickness and then a cobalt-chromium alloy magnetic film is also formed by vapor deposition or ion plating. The chromium layer serves as a nucleus in the growth of the cobalt-chromium alloy magnetic film by the vapor deposition and ion plating, and a recording body suitable to vertical magnetizing recording and having the C axis oriented in the film thickness direction is obtained.
