Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect correct stop position of a vehicle and realize remotely controlled drive at start, by installing a magnetic sensor on a travelling body and providing a detector for the vehicle position in correspondence with output of the magnetic sensor. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic sensor 16 is installed on a position where magnetism of ground propulsion coils 10-14 can be detected on a linear motor travelling body 15. A detector is also installed to detect the vehicle position in correspondence with output of the magnetic sensor 16. One phase 10 or 13 of the ground propulsion coils is excited with DC or AC at stopping of the travelling body 15. Its magnetic field is detected with the sensor 16 and stop position of the vehicle is detected. As a result, operation can be realized from the beginning by the separate excitation without synchronous drive at start of the travelling body 15. No synchronous position detector is needed.
