Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively stop a carrier at the desired position by suitably controlling the reverse energization of a coil for generating travelling magnetic field and the energization of AC and DC coils in response to the position and the speed of the carrier, thereby reducing the fatigue damage of linear motor function. CONSTITUTION:The speed and position of a carrier 3 are detected by speed detector 10 and position detector 12 from signals detected by photosensors S1- S4 provided along the slit 8 on the carrier 3 and the rail 3 of a linear induction motor, and are compared with the prescribed values by a speed comparator 14 and a position detector 16. High, middle and low speed ranges H, M, L from the speed detector 14, the prescribed proximity position presence signal from the position comparator 16 are inputted to a gate circuit 18, switches 20-1-20-3 are closed in response to the signals of the H, M, L in the signal applied state from the comparator 16, and stopping positioning unit 22 having AC and DC coils is driven in addition to the coil for generating the travelling magnetic field.
