Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a zinc plated steel strip with excellent plating close adhesiveness by a method wherein the steel strip containing a specific amount of P is heat treated at a specific temp. and, thereafter, plated in a molten zinc bath with a specific available Al concn. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip contains 0.04-13wt% P and other components are, for example, about 0.2-0.12% C, about 0.05-0.5% Mn, about 0.01-0.02% Si and the remainder of Fe and inevitable impurities. Said steel strip is heat treated at 500 deg.C or more and, thereafter, plated by using a molten zinc bath of which an available Al concn. in said bath is adjusted so as to satisfy a formula I. Or, the above described heat treated steel strip is plated by using a molten zinc bath of which an available Al concn. therein is adjusted so as to satisfy a formula II and, subsequently, heated to about 400 deg.C or more to carry out alloying treatment. Further, [Al] of the formulae I, II is an available Alwt% in the molten zinc bath and [P] is a Pwt% in the steel strip.
