Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain molten steel of low hydrogen contents through degassing treatment of low degree of vacuum by adding Fe-Si and Fe-Mn to molten steel during tapping in such a manner that it contains prescribed amounts of Si and Mn. CONSTITUTION:At the time of tapping molten steel from the inside of a converter, Fe-Si and Fe-Mn are charged into the molten steel in such a manner that it contains 0.05-0.20% Si and <=2.0% Mn, whereby it is subjected to deoxidation controlling. Next, degassing treatment of more than one time of circulation number is applied to this molten steel by a vacuum degassing plant. Thence, components such as Al or other alloy elements are added in a vacuum. By the above-mentioned method, the degassing treatment time is reduced, and the yield and cost are improved.
