Abstract

PURPOSE:To harmlessly produce a nonmagnetic jig having excellent hardness and corrosion resistance by prepg. the nonmagnetic alloy consisting essentially of specific ratios of Mn, Ni and Cu. CONSTITUTION:The nonmagnetic alloy ingot contg., by weight, 10-30% Mn and 10-30% Ni, furthermore contg. at need 0.1-10% Cr and the balance consisting substantially of Cu is refined. Said ingot is subjected to hot forging and hot rolling by a usual method and is applied to a solution heat treatment at about 700-1,000 deg.C to form a plate material at about 30-50% working ratio. Said plate material is then pressed to produce the goods having an objective shape such as scissors, pincette, etc., and is applied to an aging treatment to improve the hardness thereof. In this way, the nonmagnetic jig useful for cutting a magnetic tape and for treating the pieces of tape is obtd.
