Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a turbine rotor material for geothermal power generation which is improved in its notch brittleness, corrosion resistance, and corrosion fatigue strength by designating the amounts of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo, and Nb or Ta present in a steel composition.
CONSTITUTION: A turbine rotor material contains 0.05W0.25wt% C, 0.2wt% or less Si, 0.1W1.0wt% Mn, 10.0W14.0wt% Cr, 0.3W2.0wt% Mo, 0.01W0.2wt% Nb or Ta or both, and Fe and impurities, together, as needed, with 0.01W0.1wt% N component. The rotor material is manufactured by a procedure in which given amounts of alloying elements are melted, deoxidized, case, machined, heated for a sufficient period of time to convert into austenite texture, and then cooled. During the cooling process, the metal texture turns into practically homogeneous martensite texture. The use of the alloy enables to design a geothermal power plant having excellent safety.
