Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a martensitic stainless steel contg. C, N, Cr, Ni, Mn, and Mo in a specified ratio and having superior rust resistance at around ordinary temp. and high fatigue strength.
CONSTITUTION: The stainless steel consists of C≤0.03%, N 0.05W0.20%, Cr 11.0W17.0%, Ni 0.5W3.0%, 0.5Mn+Ni 1W4.0%, Mo 0.5W2.0%, and the balance Fe and inevitable impurities such as Si, P and S. For example, the steel comsists of C 0.030%, N 0.09%, Cr 13.15%, Ni 1.50%, Mo 1.24%, Si 0.50%, P 0.020%, S 0.005% and the balance Fe. In a salt water spray test this stainless steel A is far superior to compared steels No.2 (SUS410) and No.3 (SUS401+Mo), and comparable to steel No.4 (SUS305J1) in rusting state as shown in the diagram.
