Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtai a high-sensitivity photoconductive target which has sensitivities to infrared rays, and is suitably used for a vidicon-type image pickup tube having a photosensitivity also to the range of infrared rays. CONSTITUTION:A transparent conductive film 2 is formed on one surface of a light-transmitting base plate 1 such as a glass plate (face plate). A photoconductive layer 3 is formed on the transparent film 2. The layer 3 is obtained by subjecting a mixture of plural kinds of II to IV group compounds to vapor deposition (s) so as to form either a diposition film or duplicate deposition films over the film 2, and subjecting the plate 1 coated with thus formed film (s) to thermal treatment at 400-700 deg.C in an inactive gas atmosphere containing tellurium alone or tellurium and oxygen. After that, such a layer 3 is coated with a high-resistance material layer 4.
