Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate automation of design of a semiconductor device by a method wherein a semiconductor substrate is divided into the sections consisting of sizes (x), (y), functional blocks are formed with the respective sections, and the relative distances between the respective blocks are made to differ by the integer times of (x), (y) corresponding to quantities of mutual wirings of the functional blocks. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor substrate is divided into the sections 1 of a large number having sizes (x), (y) respectively along the X axis and the Y axis, the cells containing at least one transistor are arranged in order corresponding to a part out of the sections of the large number or to the whole region, and the relative distances between the adjoining functional blocks are made to differ by the integer times of pitch of the sections corresponding to the differences of quantities of wirings necessitating for mutual connection between the respective functional blocks to be constituted by the arranged cells of the plural number to constitute the integrated circuit. Accordingly the automation design process can be applied effectively.
