Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce compression work of an engine at inertia running operation and improve its fuel consumption, by closing an intake throttle valve simultaneously fully closing a fuel cutoff valve at engine brake operation. CONSTITUTION:At engine brake operation, under a condition for an accelerator fully closed further with a transmission not in a neutral state further the condition engaged with a clutch, an accelerator switch 60, transmission switch 69 and clutch switch 71 are all turned on, and each coil 67, 68, 70 is excited to turn on electromagnetic switches 68, 64, 65, then a switch 61 is selected by excitation of a coil 60 from (a) to (b). Accordingly, a fuel cutoff valve 7 is turned off to shut off a fuel passage, simultaneously a throttle valve actuator 62 is operated to throttle a suction passage. Further the engine brake operation is finished, if an engine is accelerated, a switch 66 is opened to restore the initial condition of fuel control.
