Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the atomization of fuel and to reduce the production of NOx in an internal-combustion engine by forming a suction system of two passage systems, and stopping an operation of a suction valve in one passage system by means of a valve operation stopping mechanism and increasing an amount of exhaust reflux at low and medium loads.
CONSTITUTION: A suction system 11 comprises a primary suction passage 1 having a primary throttle valve 12 and a primary suction valve 2, and a secondary suction passage 3 having a secondary throttle valve 13 and a secondary suction valve 4. A secondary suction valve 4 is provided with a plunger 15 which is driven by the suction pressure and stops the operation of the valve 4 at low and medium loads by applying the oil pressure. A suction pressure passage 24 for driving a control valve 16 is communicated with an EGR valve 34 and an air valve 35 of a control mechanism 42, so that the amount of exhaust reflux is increased at low and medium loads by opening the valve 34 and closing the valve 35, and the valves 34 and 35 are inversely operated at high loads.
