Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a proper reflux amount and air fuel ratio property as a whole by stopping recycle of exhaust at the low load side with respect to curves corresponding to engine load-rotational speed characteristics specified at every stage of speed change.
CONSTITUTION: An intake pipe 8' is communicated to an exhaust pipe 8 through EGR path 15 having two EGR valves 16, 17 to provide reflux of exhaust gas. Intake negative pressure is introduced into a negative pressure chamber 26 of EGR valve 16 through a negative pressure path 30 having a regulator valve 31 and an electromagnetic switch valve 34. Also, intake negative pressure is introduced similarly into a negative pressure chamber 19 of EGR valve 17 to drive a valv body 22 in the closing direction and the more the driven distance is, the larger the negative pressure becomes. To the input of an electronic control unit 35 are sent signals of an air flow meter 36, vehicle speed sensor 37, crank angle sensor 39, water temperature sensor 40 and throttle valve sensor 41 to control the switch valve 34 which is closed in a low load to move a valve body 29 of EGR valve 16 in the closing direction.
