Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of inert gas used as well as prevent the deterioration of the performance of adsorbent used by a method in which the regeneration and activation of the adsorbent are concurrently performed by injecting an inert gas and water vapor into the regenerator.
CONSTITUTION: For a regenerator 1, an inlet 3 through which used adsorbent is introduced is provided at the top, an outlet 4 through which gas is released is at the middle, and an outlet 5 through which regenerated adsorbent is discharged is at the bottom. A reaction region with an inert gas-inducting port 6 is formed in the section above the gas outlet 4, a water gas reaction region with a water vapor-inducting port 7 is formed is the section below the outlet 4, and an indirect cooler 23 is provided at the bottom. An adsorbent which adsorbed SOx present is flue gas from a duct 14 in an adsorber 2 is sent through the outlet 13, the first sieve 16, and the duct 18 into the regenerator 1, where the gas comes into contact concurrentwise with inert gas in the upper half region of the regenerator to remove SOx and also comes into contact countercurrentwise with water vapor in the lower half region for activation. The regenerated adsorbent is circulated through the cooler 23, the second sieve 26, and the duct 28 to the adsorber 2.
