Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the utilization rate of an adsorbent and perform economical exhaust gas treatment, in the 2nd stage treatment of the SOx in exhaust gases, by activating and reusing the regeneratable adsorbent having been used as the 2nd stage adsorbent.
CONSTITUTION: The exhaust gas generated from a combustion device is led to the 1st stage removing device 10, where the greater part of harmful gas is removed by an absorbent 12. The absorbent having absorbed SOx is exhausted to the outside of the system from the device 10. Next, the exhaust gas out from the device 10 is sent into the 2nd stage removing device 11, where it is contacted with a regeneratable adsorbent such as active carbon and is thereby removed of harmful materials, after which it is released 6 into the atmosphere. The adsorbent used in the device 11 is sent to a regenerating device 15, where it is contacted with a heating medium 14 for desorption and is thereby desorbed of SOx. The thus regenerated adsorbent is circulated to the device 11 and is thereby used. On the other hand, the desorption gas contg. harmful materials desorbed in the device 15 is supplied 30 to the upper stream side of the device 10 where it is mixed with the exhaust gas from the device 9. The mixed gas is led to the device 10 and is treated in the same manner as described above.
