Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the consumption of active carbon at the time of removing the SOX in various combustion exhaust gases, by passing the exhaust gases through the cartridges packed with active carbon to have SOX adsorbed thereby and subjecting the adsorbed cartridges to desorption treatment.
CONSTITUTION: The catridges 2 which are made by being packed with active carbon and covering the top and bottom surfaces by means of metal gauges 4 and which are arrayed in parallel in a plurality are disposed within plural stage flue chambers and the exhaust gas contg. SOX is admitted therein from one side 1 of the flue, is passed through the multiple cartridges 2 by penetrating them vertically, whereby the SOX is adsorbed on the active carbon. The clean gas is then exhausted to the other from the flue 1'. The adsorbed cartridges is lowered down to the preheating chamber level in the lower part by an elevator and is heated to about 400W 500°C in a preheating chamber; at the same time, the mixed gases of an inert gas and steam are admitted as desorbing gas through an inlet 12, are passed through the cartridges to desorb the adsorbed SOX. These gases are then passed through a cooling chamber, after which they are sent from an outlet 13 into a recovering unit. Since the active carbon is packed in the cartridges, its powdering occurs less at the time when it is reiteratively used.
