Abstract

PURPOSE:To form an electrophotographic receptor superior in sensitivity and durability, by using a specified hydrazone compound as a photoconductor. CONSTITUTION:The photoconductor to be used is a hydrazone compound, such as the formula II represented by the general formulaIin which R is an optionally substituted aromatic hydrocarbon residue or heterocyclic residue; R1 is H, or optionally substituted alkyl or aralkyl or aryl; each of R2, R3 is optionally substituted alkyl or aralkyl or aryl; and n is 1 or 2. This hydrazone compound is mixed with a film-forming polymer, such as a polystyrene resin together with additives, such as plasticizer, sensitizing dye, and photoconductive pigment, when necessary. The mixture obtained is coated on a conductive substrate to form a photosensitive layer for use in an electrophotographic receptor.
