Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor good in resistance to heat and light, high in sensitivity, low in residual potential, and supeiror in carrier generation efficiency, by adding a specified bisazo compound to a photosensitive layer, especially to the carrier generating layer of a laminate type photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptor is prepared by forming on a conductive substrate a laminte photosentitive layer containing a carrier transfer substance and a carrier generting substance in separate layers or a single photosensitive layer containing a mixture of the two. A compound used as the carrier generating substance is represented by the general formulaI, II, or III in which A is a group represented by the formulae IV-X; Z is an aromatic carbon ring or hetero ring; R1 is H, optionlly substituted NH2, alkyl, carbamoyl, or the like; R2, R3 are each optionally substituted alkyl or aralkyl or aryl; X is NH2, OH; and Y is H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy,, COOH, SO3H, optionally substituted carbamoyl or sulfamoyl. As a result, a photoreceptor superior in durability is obtained by combination of the wide range of carrier transfer substances.
