Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled photoreceptor rich in flexiblity and high in sensitivity, by forming a photosensitive layer using a specified monoazo pigment as an effective component.
CONSTITUTION: A compound used as an effective component of a photosensitive layer is a monoazo dye represented by general formula [I] in which X is a benzene, naphthalene, carbazole, indole, or benzofuran ring; Ar is a benzene, naphthalene, dibenzofuran, or carbazole ring; and R is H, alkyl, or phenyl, such as formula [II]. Photosensitive layer 2 consisting of said monoazo dye 4 (in this case acting as a photoconductor) and a binder resin 3 is provided on conductive substrate 1, or photosensitive layer 2' consisting of monoazo dye 4 (in this case acting as a charge carrier generating substance) and charge transfer medium 5 is provided on substrate 1 to form a photoreceptor.
