Abstract
PURPOSE: To use a specific disazo pigment effective for various electrophotographic processes.
CONSTITUTION: The disazo pigment having a 5, 5'-dimethoxy-2,2'-dinitro-biphenyl nucleus represented by the formula, where X denotes a (substituent) aromatic ring such as benzene ring or naphthalene ring or a (substituent) heterocyclic ring such as indole ring, carbazole ring or benzofuran ring, Ar1 denotes a (substituent) aromatic ring or a (substituent) heterocyclic ring such as dibenzofuran ring, Ar2 and Ar3 denote a (substituent) aromatic ring, R1 and R3 denote a (substituent) lower alkyl or (substituent) phenyl and R2 denotes a lower alkyl or a carboxy (ester), is contained as an effective ingredient in a photosensitive layer provided on an electroconductive substrate. The range of selection of said pigment is wide. Thus, the sensitivity and flexibility of the electrophotographic photosensitive material can be heightened.
