Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the sensitivity of photosensitive plate for electrophotography by using a specific N-containing heterocyclic compound not as a photoconductive material but as a charge transfer material and combining the same with charge carrier generating pigments.

CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive layer composed primarily of the N containing heterocyclic compound of formula I, II or III [Z' is atoms necessary for causing ring closure of (substituted) benzene nuclei; substitutents are alkyl, OH, alkoxy, amino, F, nitro, etc.; R₁ is H, alkyl, phenyl; R₂' is H, nitro, alkyl, phenyl; R₃' is H, OH, alkyl, phenyl, etc.; R₂" is H, alkyl, phenyl, phenyl-NH-, etc.; R₃" is H, alkyl, phenyl, -COOH, etc.; X is O, S, formulas IV thru VI etc.; R₁₀, R₁₀' are H; R₂₀, R₂₀' are phenyl, formula VII, -COOC₂H₅, etc.; R₃₀, R₃₀', are H, -COOC₂H₅; X₁ is a coupler, SO₂, CH₂, formula VIII, 0, etc.] and charge carrier generating pigments is provided on a conductive base.
