Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise sensitivity and durability of an electrophotographic receptor and to reduce its remaining potential, by forming a laminate structure having a charge generating layer containng a disazo pigment having a benzimidazole ring. CONSTITUTION:An electrophotogrphic receptor has a 3-layer structure consisting of a conductive substrate and a charge transfer layer, and a charge generating layer containing a disazo pigment represented by the formulaIin which A is an aromatic coupler represented by the formula II or III; B is H or lower alkyl; D is H or CH3; X is a residue condensing with a benzene ring to form a naphthalene, anthracene, carbazole, or the like ring; Y is CONR1R2, R1 being H or optionally substituted alkyl or phenyl, R2 being alkyl, phenyl, or naphthyl, all optionally substituted; and R3 is the same as R1. The obtained photoreceptor has high sensitivity, low remaining potential, and good durability.
