Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor improved in sensitivity and reduced in remaining potential, by forming a photosensitive layer containing a specified disazo pigment on the receptor. CONSTITUTION:A photoreceptor has a photosensitive layer containing a disazo pigment represented by the formulaIin which A is an aromatic coupler; B is methyl or Cl; and D is H, lower alkyl, halogen, OH, lower alkoxy, or acylamino. In the formulaI, A is preferably selected from couplers represented by the formula II, III, and IV in which V is a residue condensing with a benzene ring and forming a naphthalene or anthracene ring, or the like; Y is CONR1 R2, where R1 is H, alkyl, or phenyl, and R2 is alkyl, phenyl, or naphthyl; and R3 is alkyl or phenyl. When the photoreceptor consists of at least 3 layers: a conductive layer, the charge generating layer containing the disazo pigment represented by the formulaI, and a charge transfer layer, deterioration of sensitivity and rise of remaining potential can be suppressed to a negligible degree.
