Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent wasteful electric power consumption and the production of noise while not in welding by the constitution wherein a control circuit is energized to conduct switching transistors alternately only during short circuiting between the base metals and an electrode. CONSTITUTION:When base metals 30 and an electrode 32 are short circuited, a short circuit voltage detecting circuit 34 energizes a control circuit 20 via a flip- flop (FF)36. Then, the circuit 20 conducts switching transistors (ST)10, 12 alternately, thereby supplying the DC voltage of DC power source consisting of an AC power source 2, a rectifier bridge circuit 4 and a smoothing capacitor 14 between welding output terminals 25, 28 and executing welding. If in this state the electrode 32 is moved apart from the base metals 30 and is released, a transformer 6 is put in a no-load state, and the voltage between the terminals 25, 28 rises so that a no load voltage detecting circuit 48 de-energizes the circuit 20 via the FF36. When the circuit 20 de-energizes, the STs 10, 12 are made non- conducting, and this terminates the welding.
