Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the loss of an inverting circuit remarkably by using a voltage across a voltage-doubler rectified power source as a normal voltage in load operation and then by reducing this a rectified power voltage to half the normal voltage in non-load operation by automatically bringing bridge rectification to effect by switching.
CONSTITUTION: Alternating-current power supply 1 is rectified by diodes 2...5 constituted in a bridge and then smoothed by capacitors 6 and 7 into the direct-current power supply of inverter circuit 9. Then, when switch 8 connected to the middle point between capacitors 6 and 7 and the alternating-current terminal of diodes 2W5 turns ON, voltage-doubling rectification comes into effect. Namely, when output-side switch 15 of circuit 9 turns ON and load 14 is connected, the voltage-doubling rectification is put into effect and, on the other hand, when swtich 15 turns OFF and the load is disconnected, driving circuit 13 never drives switch 8, so that bridge rectification will come into effect. Consequently, a voltage in non-load operation is reduced to half the normal voltage, thereby making it possible to reduce remarkably the loss of the inverting circuit.
