Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp pulse current providing a short pulse width and a high peak value by supplying a discharge current of capacitors by a pulse power supply to a discharge gap between an electrode and a workpiece through a saturable reactor. CONSTITUTION:An AC power supply is rectified by a rectifier 1, and capacitors 61, 62 are charged through a high frequency transformer 4, rectifier 5 and a high frequency pulse circuit 3 by high frequency switching a switch 2. The capacitor is discharged by turning on a switch 8, but allowing a discharge current to flow in saturable reactors 71, 72, because their saturation characteristic is set in such a manner as to saturate the reactor with the capacitor discharge current, the capacitors 61, 62 decrease a pulse width of their discharge current, allowing a steep pulse current, increasing the fluctuating characteristic, to flow in a discharge gap 9. Further by providing two or more capacitors, repeated frequency increases by each discharge.
