Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the discharge characteristics and the preservation characteristics of a nonaqueous battery which contains manganese dioxide, by subjecting manganese dioxide, which is deposited from electrochemical bath containing manganese chloride to dielectric heating through microwave irradiation to remove its water, and thus preparing the former manganese dioxide. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous battery includes a negative electrode 4 made of lithium and a positive electrode 5 made of manganese dioxide. The former manganese dioxide is prepared by subjecting manganese dioxide, which is deposited from electrochemical bath containing manganese chloride, to dielectric heating by means of microwave irradiation to remove its water. Here, a temperature of below 350 deg.C is preferred for the former dielectric heating.
