Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the flatness of the discharge curve as well as the heavy-load characteristics of an organic-solvent battery, by using a positive active material made of manganese dioxide which is added with nickel oxyhydroxide. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode 1 of an organic-solvent battery, whose negative electrode is a light metal, for example, a metallithium disc 2, contains a positive active material which consists of manganese dioxide and nickel oxyhydroxide. The content of nickel oxyhydroxide is preferred to be 5-50wt% of the former positive active material. Sintered manganese dioxide is preferred as the former manganese dioxide, which is prepared by subjecting manganese dioxide to, for example, a heat treatment at 250-450 deg.C to make the water of crystallization to be removed.
