Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize improvement of the stability of a silver peroxide battery by making either the positive electrode or electrolyte to be added with cadmium and tellurium, as well as a specific amount of at least one element chosen out of thallium, mercury, lead and germanium. CONSTITUTION:As an essential component of the positive electrode of a silver peroxide battery, silver peroxide added with over 0.03wt% of cadmium as a metal is used. Tellurium is added to at least one of the positive electrode and alkaline electrolyte, and the content of tellurium as a metal is adjusted to over 0.01wt%. The battery contains at least one of thallium, mercury, lead and germanium. The combined content of thallium and mercury is over 0.01wt% of the positive electrode. At least one of the positive electrode and alkaline electrolyte is added with over 0.01wt% of the combined amount of lead and germanium.
