Abstract
PURPOSE:To predict the time of the final discharge of a battery with accuracy and decrease the rate of rejections on the production of positive electrodes, by adding positive electrodes of silber periodate of a specified particle diameter and also of a specified ratio of amount so as to bring the molded density above specific value. CONSTITUTION:Using either silver oxide or silver peroxide as an active material for positive electrode, silver periodate having a particlediameter equal to or a little less than those of silver oxide or silver peroxide is added by the amount under 10wt% to the total of positive electrode and the molded density of the positive electrode is brought above 5g/cm<2>. With this means, on account of the voltage-reduction induced by the silver periodate which has a standard oxidation-reduction potential lower than that of active positive electrode material, the prediction for the time of final discharge of a battery is made feasible as well as the reduction for the rate of rejections on improper molding of positive electrodes.
