Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily provide the surface of the positive electrode of a battery with a uniform silver layer and thus stabilize the performance of the battery, by immersing a positive formed material whose main active material is AgO or Ag2O in hydrogen peroxide to form a silver layer on its surface. CONSTITUTION:A positive formed material 7 whose main active material is AgO or Ag2O is immersed in hydrogen peroxide to form a reduced-silver layer on the surface of the material 7. If the positive active material is Ag2O, the positive formed material 7 and a positive-electrode can may be joined before they are immersed in hydrogen peroxide. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide may be 30% as well as less than 10%; the commercially available one has the concentration of 30%. Consequently, a uniform reduced-silver layer is easily formed on the surface of the positive formed material, thereby the positive electrode of a battery provides an increased discharge capacity with a decreased amount of a conductive agent. At the same time, the performance such as the voltage of the battery at the initial stage of discharge can be stabilized.
