Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thin, high capacity, non-leakage cell by employing specific silica gel as the solidifier of positive electrode which uses ion complex of iodine and alkyl pilisium-iodide as the active material. CONSTITUTION:Lithium metal is emplyed as negative electrode active material 1 while an active material composed of ion complex of iodine and alkyl pilisium-iodide (where alkyl is one of ethyl, propyl, buthyl and hexyl.) absorved in specific silica gel is employed. Only such silica gel as has 3-20mum of grain diameter, 25-210 Angstrom of thin hole diameter and 300-700m<2>/g of surface area is selected and added with positive electrode active material then fully mexed and peletized. Solid electrolyte layer having high conductivity is formed at the contacting face between positive agent 2 and negative electrode 1. Consequently a thin, high capacity, non-leakage cell is obtained.
