Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an alkaline battery of excellent quality such as the long storage time of the battery, stable open-circuit voltage, reduced internal resistance, etc., by limiting the amount of zinc oxide in the alkaline electrolyte, within a prescribed range. CONSTITUTION:When the concentration of zinc oxide is increased, the internal resistance rises slowly up to 5wt% of the zinc oxide but rises sharply around 6-7wt%. When the concentration of zinc oxide is made not more than 2wt%, the rate of fall in capacity increases sharply. For that reason, the amount of the zinc oxide in the electrolyte is controlled to set the concentration of the zinc oxide at 2-5wt% to obtain a battery stable in the internal resistance and the fall in capacity.
