Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a high energy density battery which can be made small easily, by employing an alkali metal as the negative active material and 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane through the electrolyte as the positive active material. CONSTITUTION:The negative active material 4 selected from alkali metals is filled on the bottom plate 3 of stainless steel in the case, and on that is placed the solid electrolyte 5 such as a nitride, oxide, sulfide, halide of the negative active material metal and a salt of inotganic acid or organic acid. On the solid electrolyte 5 is placed 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane as the positive active materail 6. This constitution provides a highly reliable battery which is free from leakage and stable over a long period of time and which can be made thin and small very easily.
