Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a nonaqueous electrolyte cell having a high active material utilization rate and a exchangeability with general type 1.5V cells by using as a positive electrode active material a mixture of iron sulfide and cupric sulfide, baked in an atmosphere of sulfur. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous electrolyte cell is formed by using a light metal, e.g., lithium, sodium, etc., as a negative electrode and also a solution of lithium perchlorate, etc., in an organic solvent as an electrolyte. As a positive elecrode active material for such a cell, a mixture of iron sulfide and cupric sulfide which is heat- treated in an atmosphere of sulfur is used. The heat treatment is preferably made at 300 deg.C for 3hr for example.
