Abstract
PURPOSE:To shorten the treatment time of MnO2 without deteriorating its discharge performance, by subjecting gamma-MnO2 powder to dielectric heating while controlling its temperature so as to drive off its bound water. CONSTITUTION:When removing the bound water of gamma-MnO2 powder through its heating, the powder is subjected to dielectric heating while controlling the heating conditions in such a way that the temperature of the powder is kept below 250 deg.C. As the dielectric heating, it is preferable to irradiate microwaves. The microwaves are irradiated preferably intermittently. It is preferred to control the temperature of the powder below 250 deg.C by intermittently irradiating microwaves while controlling the duty factor of the irradiation period.
