Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain MnO2 having a desired crystal structure and used as a positive pole active material for a cell using a nonaqueous electrolyte by bringing MnO2 into close contact with a member which absorbs microwaves and generates heat and irradiating them with microwaves to considerably lower the residual water content.
CONSTITUTION: MnO2 is brought into close contact with a member of ferrite, electrically conductive rubber or the like which absorbs microwaves and generates heat, and they are irradiated with microwaves. By suitably adjusting the output and irradiation time, the MnO2 is heated to a desired temp. to considerably remove the contained water (stuck water and water of crystallization) as well as control the crystal structure to a desired one.
