Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove the malodor of waste gas from a regeneration tower, by a method wherein H2S and HCN present in fuel gas are absorbed by an alkaline liq. absorbent, which after absorbing H2S and HCN is supplied to a regeneration tower to regenerate the liq. absorbent, and discharged gas from the regeneration tower is introduced into the absorption tower.
CONSTITUTION: Fuel gas A contg. H2S and HCN and discharged gas B contg. oxygen from a regeneration tower 11 are introduced through a duct 1 into the lower part of an absorption tower 3, and are countercurrently contacted with an alkaline liquid absorbent C contg a redox catalyst, which is sprayed from a spray nozzle 4 positioned at the upper part of the tower 3, in order to absorb H2S and HCN. Then the gaseous mixt. is discharged from a duct 6. The liquid absorbent C is supplied through a discharged solution-receiver tank 8 a pump 9 and a duct 10 to a regeneration tower 11 as a discharged liquid D from the absorption tower. The liquid absorbent D is contacted with oxygen-contg. gas E supplied from an introducing pipe 12 to oxidize sulfide in the liquid D and at the same time to regenerate the redox catalyst. The regenerated liquid absorbent is stored in a receiver tank 14. Elemental sulfur is concentrated. Supernatant liquid is supplied to the tower 3 or the liquid absorbent C.
