Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent attachment of scale to a gas dispersion plate set in the lower part of a multistage spray tower suitable for use as an exhaust gas desulfurizer by further setting a spray means under the plate.
CONSTITUTION: Gas to be treated is introduced into spray tower body 6 from gas supply inlet 1 and catalytically reacted with an absorbing agent slurry (CaCO3) sprayed by spray means 2 for scaling prevention set in the lower part of tower 6, removing part of SO2. After making the flow rate uniform with dispersion plate 3 the gas is contacted to the slurry sprayed by upper multistage spray means 4 to absorption-remove SO2 in the gas. The SO2-free gas is passed through uppermost demister 7 to remove mist and exhausted. By removing part of SO2 with means 2 before entering plate 3, the concn. of SO2 in the upper part of tower 6 is reduced, and reaction is accomplished as uniform as possible to prevent formation of scale.
