Abstract

PURPOSE:To control the generation of ammonium sulfate fume by bringing an absorbing liq. contg. NH4OH into contact with exhaust gas contg. SOX, desulfurizing to produce (NH4)SO3, oxidizing (NH4)2SO3 to (NH4)2SO4 and thereafter, recycling a part of the absorbing liq. CONSTITUTION:The exhaust gas 2 contg. SOX is introduced to a absorber 1 and desulfurized by spraying the absorbing liq. 3 contg. NH4OH from a spray 5 to produce (NH4)2SO3. Then, a part of the absorbing liq. 3 is sent to an oxidation tower 7 to convert (NH4)2SO3 into (NH4)2SO4. A part of (NH4)2SO4 produced here is recycled to the absorbing liq. 3 through a recycling flow line 8 to reduce the concn. of (NH4)2SO3 and lower the partial pressure of SO2 in the liq. to control the generation of ammonium sulfate fume.
