Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve desulfurization performance by treating CaO in a dry type desulfurization method of performing desulfurization by catalytic-oxidizing the gaseous SO2 in waste combustion gas then blowing CaO powder.
CONSTITUTION: In performing desulfurization by oxidizing the gaseous SO2 contained in the waste combustion gas by catalysts to sulfuric acid anhydride then blowing CaO powder, ordinary CaCO3 or the CaO produced by calcining Ca(OH)2 is contacted with the air saturated with steam, to make Ca(OH)2. This is again heated to CaO. The desulfurization is accomplished by blowing the CaO powder produced by repeating said operation a number of times. Then, the rate of reaction of CaO is considerably increased.
